Stichting Balsewa buys as much material as possible in Nepal in order to support the local community. However, if you want to contribute in kind, please get in touch with us. Perhaps we can find a creative solution together, for instance by organising an auction, sale, market stall, lottery of other activity.

Child-centre education empowers children to develop their talents and strengths to the full and to think independently. In Nepal, this type of education is catching on only slowly owing to the system in place there. To Dutch eyes, it is centuries behind where we are. Usually, there is only one teacher for several classes. The children are kept busy with traditional rote learning: learning facts and reciting numbers off by heart. There is little if any time for creative learning. Schools are free but parents have to pay for school uniforms and teaching materials. The partners we work with are the best guarantee that your support will be used for the benefit of the children. They know the region inside out and several people who work for our organisation have experienced the children’s plight at first hand. This is their motivation to help them.

The children are denied the fundamental right to grow up in a loving, respectful and safe environment. Even if they have parents, they live in the direst poverty. They must often work on the land, some are locked up at home or become homeless. They have virtually no future and run the risk of falling victim to drink, drugs, violence, sexual abuse and child trafficking.
