Gifts and legacies
Gifts given by notarial deed are dealt with by Schenkservice. Schenkservice attends to deeds (through a civil law notary) for our foundation.
You can draw up a notarial deed for a period of 5 years. This has the advantage that, subject to certain conditions, your gift is 100% deductible from your income tax assessment.
The tax man also contributes
Stichting Balsewa is recognised by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration as a Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI). Any gifts you give to it can therefore be deducted from your income tax assessment. If all the gifts you give to Public Benefit Organisations in a year exceed 1% of your gross income, the excess can be deducted. If you give a gift in the form of a periodic donation for a period of 3 years, the aggregate amount is deductible in full without having to exceed the 1% threshold. Stichting Balsewa advises you to give gifts in this way. As a Public Benefit Organisation, Stichting Balsewa has been able to conclude gift agreements directly with you since 2016, without the intervention of a notary. You do not need to pay for a notary, but you still enjoy the tax deduction.
